Wisdom, Knowledge & Understanding

Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding

  1. How effective is the school at meeting the learning needs of all pupils through the curriculum? How effective is the school in identifying those who are vulnerable and who may have additional learning and personal needs?
  2. How well does the school support all pupils in their spiritual development, enabling all pupils to flourish?

Vulnerable pupils

Ofsted 2022 - Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported. Leaders arrange training for staff in how to identify and help pupils with SEND, such as using intuitive tests that determine fitting support. Leaders value the partnership between parents and school staff. This ensures that adults work together to best meet pupils’ needs.

We use Target Tracker to assess pupils and can use this to track pupil groups

Spiritual development

We have Prayer Days every term to spend time thinking about our spiritual development.

We made our school advent calendar with photos from around the world of Jesus and Mary and the other side were all various names for Jesus from the Bible. It helped to demonstate the global nature of Christianity.

Tolerance assembly ran by the worship team. We voted on what we liked best. We discussed the different things people like and how we can all like different things and still be friends.

We had a Remembrance service at the war memorial in the village. The school and local community come together.

FD led assembly after the Queen's death - We learned about grief and mourning and discussed that this can be private or communal. We looked at the signs of mourning the country was experiencing and how people all mourn in different ways.

Children are encouraged to take time to be still and listen and think about the world around them at the beginning of each Forest School lesson.

Our SMSC display markers help children to recognise the Spirtual aspects of learning.

We encourage outdoors learning and take time for Wow moments the children have.

Learning needs of all pupils

Ofsted 2022 - Pupils know that staff have high aspirations for them. They have high aspirations for themselves as well. Pupils recall much of what they learn, talking enthusiastically about their lessons..
