Human beings change and grow – we do it all the time and in many ways. Emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’. At these times, we are reminded of how much we need others in our lives to help us to keep growing. In exclusive interviews with presenter and Place2Be Ambassador Josh Smith, familiar faces from the world of TV, music and sport have shared their stories of emotional growth with us.

Create your own wellbeing jar and fill it with things to look forward to ....
Use a large sheet of paper. Lay your hand on the paper, fingers spread, with part of your arm on the paper as well. Trace your arm and hand, leaving the tips of the fingers open. This will become the base of your tree – your arm is the trunk of the tree and the fingers are the beginning of branches.
At the end of the open finger tips, extend the drawing to create more branches. At the end of the branches, draw several large leaves, making them large enough that you can write in each one.
On each leaf write one thing that helps you get through a difficult time – this can include personal strengths, coping strategies, enjoyable activities, and supportive people.
Colour, paint, or decorate your tree as you wish.

Blowing bubbles is great fun, and it has an added benefit too – the deep breathing required to blow bubbles can help you to relax and feel calm.
‘Bubble breathing’ can even be done without the bubbles, any time you want to feel calm. Simply take a deep breath in through your nose, then breathe out slowly through your mouth with your lips small, as if you were going to blow a bubble. This kind of breathing leaves more room for fresh inhaled air. You can even imagine any worries you might have floating away like bubbles.
Have a go at making your own bubbles.
You will need:
1. Whisk the sugar into the warm water until the sugar dissolves.
2. Add the washing up liquid and stir to combine.
3. Let it sit for a while. This step is only if you are patient enough to wait – letting the bubble mixture sit for a couple of hours helps them work a bit better, but is not essential.
4. Find some things to blow your bubbles with – you might have an old bubble wand, but if not, try some objects you might have around the house. Try a used hairband and a biscuit cutter! A pipe cleaner can be twisted into a homemade bubble wand.
5. Now it’s time to blow some bubbles!
